In Chhattisgarh, security forces have arrested sixteen Maoists from different locations in Bijapur district over the last 24 hours.
Personnel of the District Reserve Guard and the Central Reserve Police Force carried out an anti-Maoist operation in the district. In this operation, two Maoists were apprehended from the Basaguda area, six from Gangloor and eight from the Jangla region. Explosives and other materials have also been recovered from their possession.
The STF, DRG and CRPF Cobra jawans have arrested the Maoists during combing operations in Gangalur, Basaguda and Jangla forests. Security forces have seized a large quantity of Maoist arms and explosives from them.
Earlier on June 2, as many as 16 hardcore Maoists surrendered in Chattisgarh. The Maoists surrendered to the Bijapur SP of Chhattisgarh, bordering Malkangiri district. 16 Maoists, including two hardcore members of the People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) battalion, surrendered to authorities in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh on Monday.
In a major success to police, as many as 24 hardcore Maoists surrendered in Chattisgarh. The Maoists surrendered to the Bijapur SP of Chhattisgarh, bordering Malkangiri district in April
