IMD Forecasts Cold Wave Across Northern and Central India.

India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast cold wave conditions over Punjab, Haryana, West Madhya Pradesh, East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Odisha today. Dense fog conditions will prevail in Himachal Pradesh and Northeastern states for the day.

The Met Department has also forecast thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds over Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.

Meanwhile, the air quality in Delhi-NCR has been registered in the Very Poor category. According to the Central Pollution Control Board, the average Air Quality Index (AQI) of the region was recorded at 305 as of 7 AM today.

The Met Office warned that isolated pockets in the northeastern states are very likely to experience dense fog till December 10. Similar conditions will prevail over Himachal Pradesh and Odisha during this period.

“Dense fog conditions are very likely to prevail during early morning hours in isolated pockets of Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura during December 6 to 10; Himachal Pradesh during December 6 to 8 and over Odisha on December 6 and 7,” the IMD said.
