China urges US to release Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.

China has said that the US should immediately release deposed Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores.

According to a report by the Global Times, Beijing also called on Washington to stop efforts to topple Venezuela’s government and to address differences through dialogue and negotiation.

The Chinese government said it has urged the US to guarantee the personal safety of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, secure their immediate release, cease efforts to overthrow Venezuela’s government, and resolve disputes through dialogue and negotiation.

“China calls on the US to ensure the personal safety of President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, release them at once, stop toppling the government of Venezuela,” the Chinese foreign ministry said in a statement, calling the strike a “clear violation of international law”.

The United States lifted airspace restrictions over the Caribbean late on Saturday after barring commercial flights during a US military operation that led to the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.

Revelers chanted “liberty” and draped Venezuelan flags over their shoulders in South Florida on Saturday to celebrate the U.S. military operation to capture Nicolás Maduro and remove him from the country — a stunning outcome they had longed for but left them wondering what comes next in their troubled homeland.
