Former UK minister Lord Peter Mandelson resigns as member of ruling Labour Party.

Former UK minister Lord Peter Mandelson has resigned as a member of the ruling Labour Party after new reports of his links with late financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Mandelson, who was sacked as US ambassador last year because of his past connections to Epstein, appeared in the latest release of files by the US Department of Justice on Friday.

Documents revealed Epstein made 75,000 dollars in payments to Lord Mandelson in three separate transactions in 2003 and 2004.

In his letter to the Labour Party’s general secretary, Lord Mandelson said he felt regret and was sorry about being linked to the Epstein files. He added that the allegations are false and should be investigated.

On Friday, the US Department of Justice made public more than three million pages of investigative material related to late financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, along with over two thousand videos and around one lakh eighty thousand images.
