WHO pauses medical evacuations from Gaza after worker killed.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has paused medical evacuations from war-torn Gaza Strip after a worker hired by the UN agency was killed in a security incident.

In a statement, WHO Chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus announced that following the incident, the Organization has suspended medical evacuation of patients from Gaza until further notice.

The incident is under investigation by the relevant authorities. The WHO Chief also called for the protection of civilians and aid workers, saying peace is essential.

According to media reports, more than 1,700 healthcare workers in Gaza have been killed since October 2023.

In a separate incident, Israeli strikes near a school sheltering displaced people in central Gaza reportedly killed at least 10 people and injured many others.
