Turkiye school shooting. Death toll rises to 10.

In Turkiye, the death toll has risen to ten, after a middle school student opened fire at a school in Turkey’s southeastern province of Kahramanmaras. Provincial Governor Mukerrem Unluer confirmed that a teacher was among those killed.

He said the attacker student, who used his father’s weapon to carry out the shooting, was also died during the incident. The motive behind the attack is not yet known.

Six of the wounded were in critical condition before the death early on Thursday following the shooting the previous day, officials said.

Isa Aras Mersinli, 14, opened fire on two classrooms at a middle school in the southern city of Kahramanmaras on Wednesday (April 15, 2026), killing a teacher and eight students and wounding 13 others.

The gunman, who was also killed, arrived at the school with five firearms and seven magazines belonging to his father, a retired police superintendent, who was arrested after the attack.
