Bollywood Actress Sayani Gupta has been named as the 2026 Person of the Year by the Harvard South Asian Association in recognition of her outstanding contribution to film, storytelling, and representation. She is scheduled to be formally felicitated at Harvard University later this month.
The Harvard South Asian Association annually presents the Person of the Year award to individuals who have significantly shaped South Asian identity and representation in public life.
This prestigious honour celebrates South Asian excellence across fields, spotlighting individuals whose work has significantly influenced representation and identity on a global stage.
The Harvard SSA wrote, “As Harvard’s premier organisation celebrating South Asian culture, creativity, and leadership, we annually recognise an individual whose work has meaningfully shaped how South Asian identity is expressed and understood in public life.”
“Sayani’s performances have consistently challenged conventions and brought depth, boldness, and authenticity to contemporary narratives, making her a compelling voice in shaping more inclusive storytelling,” the Harvard SAA added.
