France has banned Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir from entering French territory.

French Foreign Minister ⁠Jean-Noel Barrot announced the decision in a social media post today, saying the move reflected growing anger over the treatment of activists aboard the Gaza-bound Sumud flotilla.

Mr. Barrot also urged the European Union to impose sanctions on Ben-Gvir. The Israeli minister has faced widespread criticism after sharing a video in which he appeared to taunt detained flotilla activists, who were shown bound while in Israeli police custody.

“As of today, Itamar Ben-Gvir is banned from entering French territory. This decision follows his unspeakable actions toward French and European citizens who were passengers on the Global Sumud Flotilla,” the French foreign minister, Jean-Noël Barrot, announced in a post on X
