In the US, three people were killed in an explosion that engulfed a Dallas apartment building in a massive and deadly blaze.
Dallas Fire-Rescue spokesperson Jason Evans announced the fatalities at a news conference. Authorities would not provide an immediate number of how many missing people they were looking for hours after dozens of firefighters had brought the flames under control.
It was unclear how many residents lived in the two-storey building in the Oak Cliff neighborhood of Dallas.
Nearly 100 firefighters battled the flames that left the collapsed building heaped on the ground as black smoke billowed into the sky. The bodies of two adult women and one child were found in the rubble, Dallas Fire and Rescue said, according ABC News affiliate WFAA. Four additional people were hospitalized with injuries.
A natural gas explosion initially caused the fire, the Dallas fire rescue assistant chief, James Russ, said at a televised press conference.
