The US military launched another round of strikes on multiple targets in Iran yesterday, saying the attacks were in response to Iran’s continued aggression, as tensions escalated in West Asia despite efforts to revive negotiations to end the war.
The second day of American strikes came hours after Iran launched attacks toward Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan, which host US troops. Iranian media also reported explosions in Bandar Abbas, Sirik, Minab and Qeshm Island in the south of the country.
President Donald Trump warned Iran would pay the price for stalled negotiations, while Iran’s UN envoy said Tehran would not negotiate under threats and pressure.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed the Strait of Hormuz is closed to all vessels, including oil tankers and commercial ships, but US Central Command said commercial ships are continuing to transit in and out. IRGC also said it struck two ships in the Strait of Hormuz yesterday after the US military launched a new round of strikes on Iran.
The conflict has pushed global oil prices above 93 dollar a barrel, up more than 25 percent since war began.
