Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed it had launched a series of retaliatory strikes targeting US military facilities in Syria, Kuwait and Oman today.
According to Iran’s state news agency, the IRGC said in a statement that the attacks were carried out during the 11th, 12th and 13th waves of Operation Nasr-2. It claimed that Iranian forces conducted a surprise strike on a US special operations command centre in Syria’s al-Tanf region.
In a separate statement, the IRGC’s Public Relations Department said, the first wave of attacks targeted a US missile defence surveillance radar, several weapons depots, two HIMARS launchers and multiple missiles at a base hosting US forces in Kuwait, triggering a large fire.
The IRGC further claimed that its forces later struck and destroyed a naval surveillance radar at the Salmah Plateau and a US air surveillance radar in the Ghanam area of Oman. There has been no independent verification of the IRGC’s claims.
Meanwhile, Kuwaiti Army said that its air defences are confronting hostile missile and drone strikes after Iran’s action. It urged people to adhere to the security and safety instructions issued by the authorities.
