President Donald Trump has warned that the United States will strike very, very powerfully any site where Iran attempts to rebuild its nuclear programme.
Speaking alongside Lebanese President Joseph Aoun at the White House, Trump claimed Iran is seeking talks behind the scenes despite continuing tensions. He said Tehran desperately wants negotiations as it is being decimated.
Defending his administration’s approach to Iran, President Trump warned that any effort by Iran to reconstitute its nuclear infrastructure would trigger a strong US military response. He also cautioned Tehran against attacking commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, saying the United States would respond 10 times harder if such attacks occur.
On recent hostilities, Trump acknowledged that an Iranian drone attack in Jordan resulted in US casualties and said he would travel to Dover Air Force Base to honour the fallen service members.
Meanwhile, US authorities have identified the American service member killed during a controlled detonation of an Iranian one-way attack drone at Erbil Air Base in Iraq as Sergeant Michael Emmanuel Swinton of Fayetteville, North Carolina, who died on 19th of this month.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said coordination with Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has intensified as the country responds to the escalating conflict with the US.
Speaking at a National Industry and Mining Day event, President Pezeshkian said government decisions are now being organised according to the Supreme Leader’s guidance and vowed to continue with strength. Meanwhile, Gulf tensions continue to rise following a series of reported attacks.
