Amid growing concerns over enforced disappearances of Baloch civilians across Pakistan, a leading human rights organisation has alleged that five more civilians were forcibly disappeared by Pakistani security forces.
Paank, the Human Rights Department of the Baloch National Movement, stated that several Baloch civilians were allegedly taken into custody by personnel from the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), Pakistan Rangers, Pakistani intelligence agencies, and military personnel.
Paank called on the Pakistani authorities to immediately disclose the fate and whereabouts of the missing individuals, ensure their protection and access to legal counsel and their families, and conduct prompt, impartial, and transparent investigations to hold those responsible accountable.
The group said the continued practice of enforced disappearances violates Pakistan’s obligations under international human rights law and has caused prolonged suffering for the victims’ families.
The latest allegations come amid increasing reports of extrajudicial killings and enforced disappearances in Balochistan. In its latest report, the Human Rights Council of Balochistan (HRCB) documented 77 killings and 63 cases of enforced disappearance during June.
