Russia. 3 killed and 21 others injured in bomb blast at restaurant in central Moscow.

In Russia, three people were killed and 21 injured after a homemade explosive device detonated at an Italian restaurant in Moscow.

The blast happened at Kudrinskaya Square in central Moscow last night. Russia’s National Anti-Terrorist Committee said a woman carrying explosives was stopped by a security guard as she tried to enter the restaurant.

The device then detonated, killing the woman, the guard and one visitor. The area around the Stalin-era skyscraper where the restaurant is located was briefly sealed off.

Authorities have not said who they believe was the target, but many Muscovites will suspect a link to the war in Ukraine.

The mayor of Moscow, Sergei Sobyanin, said the blast was “a cruel act of terror which took human lives”.
