North Korea Launches Short-Range Ballistic Missile Towards Sea amid rising tensions with US.

North Korea launched a short-range ballistic missile toward the sea today, two days after threatening to strengthen its nuclear deterrent in response to what it called U.S. hostility.

South Korean military said, the missile flew about 450 km toward North Korea’s eastern waters. Hours later, another projectile was launched from the eastern coast.

The South Korean military said, it has boosted its surveillance posture and was closely exchanging information on the launch with the US and Japan.

The launches come amid a series of North Korean weapons tests, despite recent US efforts to scale back military exercises with South Korea last month, in an apparent effort to revive diplomacy with leader Kim Jong Un.
