Deep Depression Near Sri Lanka’s Northeast Coast Likely to Weaken Soon.

Sri Lanka’s Meteorology Department has said that the deep depression over the southwest Bay of Bengal is likely to weaken into a depression soon.

The system was located 100 km north-northeast of Trincomalee as of 4 AM today, and is expected to cross the coast between Trincomalee and Jaffna around noon.

Heavy rainfall exceeding 100 mm is possible in parts of the northern region, and the public has been advised to prepare for strong winds and lightning.
