Heavy Rainfall Hits Patna, Nawada, Darbhanga and Other Bihar Districts.

Due to continuous rainfall over the past twenty-four hours in Bihar, normal life has been severely disrupted in several parts of the state.

Heavy rainfall has been recorded in several districts of the state, including Patna, Nawada, Arwal, Jamui, Sheikhpura, Darbhanga, Supaul, Samastipur, and Saharsa. Waterlogging has occurred at several places due to the incessant rains.

On Vijayadashami yesterday Ravan Dahan programmes were affected, and rainwater also entered several puja pandals at several places yesterday. The continuous downpour has also brought down the temperature, increasing the feeling of cold.

The monsoon has reactivated over Bihar, prompting the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue a yellow alert for 38 districts across the state on Friday. Authorities have warned of continuing rainfall over the next few days, with the possibility of heavy showers and lightning in several areas.

Meteorologists have pointed out that a deep low-pressure system is active in the west-central Bay of Bengal, currently around 160 kilometers off the Gopalpur coast of Odisha. This system is gradually moving northwards and is expected to reach the coastal region between Odisha and Andhra Pradesh by Thursday night. Moist air moving northwards from this system is contributing to rainfall over Bihar.

In addition, an upper-level cyclonic circulation exists at an altitude of 1.5 to 3.1 kilometers above central and northern Uttar Pradesh, adding extra energy to the marine low-pressure system. The combined influence of these systems is causing rainfall across much of Bihar.

Most districts are expected to receive light to moderate rainfall in the coming days, though some areas may experience heavy downpours. Rainfall could reach 80–100 mm in certain locations.

In the capital, Patna, cloudy skies are expected to persist, with intermittent light to moderate showers. Temperatures are likely to drop by 2–3 degrees Celsius over the next few days.
