XTI Aerospace has joined forces with Valkyrie Sciences to launch Vanguard, an intelligent technology solution aimed at accelerating the evolution of vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) aircraft such as XTI’s TriFan 600.
The collaboration bridges XTI’s hybrid-electric aircraft program with Valkyrie’s expertise in AI, advanced materials, and energy systems, laying the groundwork for smarter, more efficient, and more capable VTOL operations.
At the core of Vanguard is a fusion of AI-enabled architecture, graphene-based composites, and battery innovations — a combination built to enhance the TriFan 600’s efficiency, autonomy, and structural performance.
Backed by Valkyrie’s experience in mesh networking, digital twins, and real-time analytics, the platform brings operational intelligence into every phase of flight, from system monitoring to mission planning.
“Valkyrie’s expertise will assist us in accelerating opportunities across our portfolio, from vertical flight to unmanned systems and beyond; we believe this is a first-of-its-kind approach,” said Scott Pomeroy, CEO of XTI Aerospace.
The TriFan 600 is designed to carry a pilot and up to six passengers at cruise speeds above 300 miles per hour (480 kilometers per hour) and altitudes reaching 25,000 feet (7,600 meters).
It can cover 1,000 miles (1,600 kilometers) with VTOL range and perform short takeoff and landings from compact runways.
Powered by two turboshaft engines, the aircraft’s roadmap includes future low- or zero-emission configurations.
XTI also plans to certify the aircraft for single-pilot operations in all weather, allowing safe flight even in clouds, fog, and icy conditions.
“This alliance supports our technology-first objectives at the leading edge of emerging aerospace technologies,” Pomeroy noted.
