Bangladesh. DMP arrests 527, files 55 cases over 24 hours in Anti-Crime Operations.

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 527 people in the capital over the past 24 hours and filed 55 cases during regular anti-crime operations.

The arrests were made in different areas of the capital. Police said they also recovered an unexploded crude bomb, 500 grams of gunpowder, 250 grams of petrol, nails and other materials allegedly used in explosives, as well as 54.245 kilograms of cannabis, 4,115 yaba tablets, 21 grams of heroin and 50 bottles of cough syrup identified as Phensedyl.

Other items recovered included a private car, knives, a machete, a small pair of scissors, a cutter, 14 mobile phones, two machines allegedly used to make yaba, various chemicals, Venila powder, paint, empty bottles and materials used in yaba production. Police also rescued two victims during the operations.

Police said the arrests and seizures were made during ongoing operations across different areas of the capital. Legal proceedings against those arrested are under way.
