The body of former Bangladesh Air Force Flight Lieutenant K. M. Tahsif Souri, was recovered from the Turag River in Dhaka, a day after he went missing.
The 28-year-old former Flight Lieutenant,had reportedly attracted attention over a video circulated on 5th of August 2024, which purportedly showed then Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina leaving Bangladesh by aircraft. Souri was widely believed to have recorded or shared the footage.
The police recovered the body of officer near Rajabari Ghat after receiving information through the national emergency helpline. His identity was established with the help of his mobile phone and wristwatch.
The body was taken to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital for an autopsy. Police said no visible external injuries were found. The cause of death remains undetermined.
Bangladesh Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed said the cause of death will be determined after the autopsy and investigation. Authorities have not yet confirmed whether any criminal activity was involved.
