The Government has advised Indian nationals against voluntarily giving up their Indian citizenship to join the Russian armed forces.
In a statement, the Ministry of External Affairs advised Indian nationals travelling to Russia to exercise caution when pursuing job opportunities there.
The Ministry cautioned that voluntarily seeking offers to join the Russian armed forces is dangerous and strongly discouraged by the government.
The Ministry said foreign nationals are being recruited into the Russian armed forces by non-public entities, including voluntary organisations.
It advised Indian nationals to exercise due diligence before accepting job offers from such agents and organisations, particularly those that are not registered with the Ministry of External Affairs
