Indonesian Police Arrest 321 Foreign Nationals in Illegal Online Gambling Bust in Central Jakarta.

Indonesian police arrested 321 foreign nationals for alleged involvement in an illegal online gambling operation in Central Jakarta on Saturday.

The suspects were detained during a raid on an office building as authorities intensified crackdowns on online gambling, which is banned in Indonesia.

Director of the Indonesian police force’s crime investigation unit, Wira Satya Triputra, at a press conference, said that those arrested included 228 Vietnamese nationals, 57 from China, 13 from Myanmar, 11 from Laos, five from Thailand, and three from Cambodia.

He said, of the 321 people arrested, 275 were accused of violating Indonesia’s criminal code on ‌gambling, ⁠a charge that carries a maximum sentence of nine years.

The arrests come after Indonesian immigration authorities detained 210 foreign nationals yesterday for allegedly running online investment scams on Batam Island, near Singapore.
