President Donald Trump accuses China of interfering with US elections.

US President Donald Trump has accused China of carrying out a wide-ranging campaign to interfere in American elections. He alleged that Beijing sought to undermine his presidency, acquire millions of US voter records and conceal its activities through a cover-up within the US intelligence community.

In a nationally televised address from the White House, President Trump announced the immediate declassification of intelligence records related to election security.

He said the documents revealed serious vulnerabilities in America’s election infrastructure and detailed years of alleged Chinese efforts to influence US politics. According to the president, the People’s Republic of China was responsible for what he described as the largest compromise of election data in US history.

President Trump alleged that US intelligence agencies became aware in 2020 that tens of millions of voter records across 18 states had been bought, stolen or hacked by China. He claimed that the information was not shared with him during his presidency or with the US Congress.

The president said the declassified records will be made available on the White House website. He maintained that the objective was to strengthen public confidence in the electoral process by identifying vulnerabilities and addressing them at the earliest.
