At least 15 people have been killed in Russian attacks across Ukraine, and around 100 others were injured in ballistic missile strikes on an exhibition near Kyiv showcasing drone technology.
The event was attended by members of Ukraine’s defence sector. Russian glide bomb also attacks on the eastern city of Sloviansk killed five people, while officials in the northern city of Sumy later confirmed the deaths of two men in another strike.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Ukraine had received intelligence suggesting Russia could launch another major missile attack within the next 48 hours. Ukraine also carried out strikes inside Russia.
A Ukrainian attack on the city of Kirov, located more than 1,000 km from the front line, killed six people and injured 26 others. Ukraine said it targeted a factory producing components for Russian aircraft and missile systems.
Ukraine also attacked warehouses linked to Wildberries, Russia’s largest online retailer. Kyiv said logistics facilities could be used to support Russian military supplies, while the strikes affected many small and medium-sized businesses.
Russia confirmed the Kyiv strike, claiming it used precision long-range weapons against a site where drones used in attacks on Russian territory were being demonstrated. Moscow said drone manufacturers and Ukrainian security officials involved in planning strikes on Russia were present at the event.
The Ukrainian government has launched an investigation into why the exhibition was held publicly and what security measures were in place. Meanwhile, Zelensky is expected to visit the United States next week and meet President Donald Trump as Washington attempts to revive peace talks between Ukraine and Russia.
