World leaders express solidarity with Venezuela and offer assistance after deadly earthquakes.

Several world leaders have expressed solidarity with the people of Venezuela and offered assistance following the devastating earthquakes that have left at least 164 people dead and more than 971 injured.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed sorrow over the devastation caused by the severe earthquakes in Venezuela. In a social media post, the Prime Minister has extended condolences to the Government and the people of Venezuela, especially the families who lost their loved ones.

He prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured. Mr Modi said that India stands in solidarity with all those affected. Mr Modi assured extending all possible assistance.

US President Donald Trump expressed Washington’s support for Venezuela, stating that he has directed US government agencies to prepare for a rapid response and provide assistance as needed.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez also offered support to Venezuela in the aftermath of the earthquakes.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum conveyed her solidarity with the Venezuelan people and announced that she had instructed officials to prepare the necessary humanitarian aid for the South American nation.

El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele said that 300 rescuers and paramedics, along with 50 tons of equipment, medicines, and essential supplies, are ready to depart for Caracas to support relief efforts.

Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Uruguayan President Yamandú Orsi and the Chilean government also expressed sympathy for the loss of life and voiced support for Venezuela.

The acting president of Venezuela had earlier declared a state of emergency after last night’s 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude earthquakes. The quakes were among the strongest to strike Venezuela in more than a century and could be felt throughout the region. Ms Rodríguez added that the toll was expected to rise.
