Zelenskiy endorses Sergii Koretskyi as Ukraine’s new Prime Minister.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has endorsed the head of the state energy company Naftogaz, Sergii Koretskyi, as Ukraine’s new Prime Minister.

President Zelenskiy pushed out Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko this week after she spent just a year in office. Parliament accepted her resignation on Tuesday and is expected to vote on her successor today.

Zelenskiy has given little explanation for the move so far, apart from saying that the aim is to refresh the leadership.

Speaking to reporters in Kyiv, Zelenskiy said Sergii Koretskyi is the best candidate for Prime Minister, as Ukraine’s priority is preparing for the upcoming winter.
